Glean with FareStart at The Bellevue Urban Garden

Expired

Description

Come help FareStart harvest produce from The Bellevue Urban Garden!

FareStart’s Food Security Team works with local partners to support our food rescue and access initiatives. From our local growers, we glean any goods that are seconds, in excess, or that they would like to donate. This product will be used at our Mobile Community Markets to provide local, nutritious food to communities experiencing food insecurity and will be incorporated into our Community and School Meals.

The Bellevue Urban Garden is a three-acre farm dedicated to bringing joy to all. Driven by light, love, and life, tBUG is a volunteer-run farm that provides exploration, educational and volunteer opportunities, and nourishing food for families, students, and youth.

For those new to gleaning, gleaning is:

  • The act of harvesting or collecting unused or surplus produce from farms and distributing it to those experiencing food insecurity
  • Traditionally defined as gathering anything left over after a harvest

This is a Family Friendly volunteer opportunity, open to ages 5-15yrs with a guardian, 16-17yrs with signed parental permission.
