Come help FareStart harvest produce at Sound Sustainable Farms! Glean Lead Shift! 

Sound Sustainable Farms was created by Cedar Grove to utilize compost and organic practices to renew the land and grow fresh food for our local community. They are committed to farming organically, enhancing the land by adding compost and nutrients, providing educational opportunities for the community, and providing local jobs for farmers. 

Thank you for leading this glean! An Overview of your day: 

  1. Please arrive at FareStart (700 Virginia) 1.5 hours before start of gleaning event. Pick up van key and gleaning supplies. Pick up the van from the Securities Garage at 1915 4th Ave. 
  2. Arrive at Farm 20 minutes before glean event- post signs if needed 
  3. Meet farmer and volunteers: check volunteers in, have extra volunteers sign up and provide proof of vaccination. 
  4. Event start 10am
  5. Volunteer Orientation and harvest procedures 
  6. Provide support to volunteers, take photos, etc.  
  7. Wash and weigh produce 
  8. Allow volunteers to take produce home 
  9. Thank you and final remarks 
  10. Drop produce with a FareStart staff member, or in the garage cooler   if unavailable. Return gleaning supplies, E-van, and keys. Make sure   to use carts when transferring produce. 
  11. Pass-down email with overview of event, photos, produce records, and attendance to volunteer supervisor
