Come help FareStart harvest produce at Oxbow Farm! Glean Lead!
Oxbow Farm’s mission is to inspire people to eat healthy, sustainably grown food and to steward our natural resources for future generations. They practice and research the art of ecological restoration, educate and empower youth to be good stewards of the Earth, and operate a 30-acre farm using sustainable farming practices.
The Food Resourcing team is working to reduce food waste and increase food security by transporting excess donated produce we receive from our local farm partners that cannot be used within FareStart to our local food bank partners instead. The volunteer will transport the specified produce from the farm it is harvested at to the correlating food bank that requested it. All this information will be emailed and provided beforehand, as well as directions to any locations being traveled to.
Requirements: Having a personal vehicle to transport food in.
Preferred: The ability to attend regular shifts (once a week or once every other week). However, we will take any help you are willing to give!
