Overview
Our Mobile Community Market provides fresh, seasonal produce to nourish underserved and low-income individuals and families. With the help of farm and community partners, we collect and purchase food and staples and then redistribute them to communities with limited access to healthy and nutritious food.
Tasks
- Support market staff
- Help set-up market
- Welcome and engage with customers
- Use point of sale system for customer purchases
- Help clean up and break down market
Qualifications and Requirements
- Be able to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly.
- Be able to stand and walk for up to 2 hours.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable talking with people
- Bilingual helpful but not necessary in the following languages: Spanish, Ukrainian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, & French Creole
- Adhere to FareStart's volunteer expectations
- Must be 18yrs + of age
- Must complete at least two general mobile market shifts to be eligible to cashier
- Complete SNAP point of sale system training (provided by FareStart)
- Complete TOAST point of sale system training (provided by FareStart)
Health & Safety Considerations:
- Do not volunteer if sick
