OVERVIEW
FareStart prepares and delivers thousands of meals nearly every day to Seattle area nonprofits, shelters, respite centers, youth and adult daycare centers and schools. This social enterprise business provides job training for our students, supports food security in our community and helps us fund our mission.
In the coming year, FareStart wants to expand the number of organizations and schools we contract with. This volunteer opportunity will support our Contract Meals Account Manager by conducting market research on local organizations that could benefit from FareStart’s nutritious, prepared meals.
DUTIES
· With guidance from the Contract Meals Account Manager, research local schools, healthcare centers, shelters, daycare centers, and other community organizations who may have meal needs.
· Gather data that will be used to understand the landscape of meal clients and competitors.
· Communicate with potential meal clients to gather information for follow up conversations.
· Meet with Account Manager for guidance and to present findings.
· Other tasks to support contract meals research as needed.
TIME COMMITMENT & LOCATION
· 3-4 hours per week
· 3-month commitment, with opportunities for ongoing volunteer support if interested
· Flexible: Virtual with possible onsite sessions at Galaxy Studios building
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Comfortable with computers, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint
· Background with market research & analysis helpful but not mandatory
· Resourceful, ability to find and analyze information via web search, database queries, etc.
· Ability to professionally communicate via email and phone with community organizations
· Must adhere to volunteer expectations (available on volunteer portal)
