Overview
The Curriculum & Materials Support Volunteer assists FareStart's training teams by preparing and organizing classroom materials that support student learning and workforce development programs. This behind-the-scenes role helps ensure instructors have the resources they need to create engaging, effective learning experiences for students.
Responsibilities
- Create, assemble, and organize classroom materials such as flashcards, worksheets, handouts, and learning aids
- Print, cut, laminate, and prepare materials for upcoming classes
- Organize curriculum binders, classroom supplies, and instructional resources
- Assist staff with special projects related to curriculum development and classroom preparation
- Support training staff with administrative tasks related to classroom readiness
Qualifications
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Comfortable using basic office equipment such as printers, laminators, and paper cutters
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Interest in education, workforce development, or supporting student success
Time Commitment
- Flexible weekday scheduling
- Shifts typically range from 2–4 hours
- Ongoing volunteers preferred, but project-based opportunities may be available
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as cutting, sorting, and assembling materials
Training & Supervision
Volunteers will receive an orientation to FareStart and role-specific training from the Training Programs team. Ongoing support and supervision will be provided by FareStart staff.
