The Curriculum & Materials Support Volunteer assists FareStart's training teams by preparing and organizing classroom materials that support student learning and workforce development programs. This behind-the-scenes role helps ensure instructors have the resources they need to create engaging, effective learning experiences for students. ResponsibilitiesCreate, assemble, and organize classroom materials such as flashcards, worksheets, handouts, and learning aidsPrint, cut, laminate, and prepare materials for upcoming classesOrganize curriculum binders, classroom supplies, and instructional resourcesAssist staff with special projects related to curriculum development and classroom preparationSupport training staff with administrative tasks related to classroom readinessQualificationsAttention to detail and strong organizational skillsAbility to work independently and follow instructionsComfortable using basic office equipment such as printers, laminators, and paper cuttersBasic computer skills preferredInterest in education, workforce development, or supporting student successTime CommitmentFlexible weekday schedulingShifts typically range from 2–4 hoursOngoing volunteers preferred, but project-based opportunities may be availablePhysical RequirementsAbility to sit or stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 20 pounds occasionallyAbility to perform repetitive tasks such as cutting, sorting, and assembling materialsTraining & SupervisionVolunteers will receive an orientation to FareStart and role-specific training from the Training Programs team. Ongoing support and supervision will be provided by FareStart staff. Volunteer: Food Pathways Mock InterviewsFareStart’s job training programs operate at our retail and classroom locations. We need your help to provide additional mock interview practice to our students as they prepare for interviewing in this constantly evolving job market. Mock Interview volunteers will interview students and provide feedback to students directly and to staff using a feedback form so that students can learn about best interview practices. DUTIES Work one-on-one with our students in a professional settingInterview students using common interview questions that are providedProvide verbal and written feedback to students on interview skillsProvide feedback to staff on student interviews, interview process and industry best practices TIME COMMITMENT AND LOCATION 7:45am-9:15am Tuesdays and Wednesdays as scheduled 700 Virginia St, Seattle WA 98101 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in recruiting, HR or experience managing/hiring staff Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to give constructive feedback and insightful interviewing tips Understanding of our students’ barriers to employment and expected boundaries Must be 18 years of age or olderPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Reflective of students: BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and/or experience with barriers to employmentVolunteer Program: Job Training and Employment Programs FareStart’s job training programs operate at our retail and classroom locations.
