Volunteer: Food Resourcing Kitchen SupportOverview FareStart’s Food Resourcing Team partners with area food rescue nonprofits, local farms, and food businesses to pick up food donations. This product will be used in our community meals to support student training, and in other food security initiatives. It helps FareStart incorporate fresh, local, and nutritious products into those programs, diversify ingredients we wouldn’t otherwise be able to purchase, and minimize costs. Tasks This ongoing weekly volunteer role will support in a variety of activities, including: Receiving, sorting, and processing recovered and donated food for immediate use, transfer, or long-term storage Prepping product to be viable for immediate use by kitchens and for storage. You will be assisting with a small-scale harvest of mainly herbs, along with some berries and greens that will go towards our Community & School Meals Programs. It is a great way to get outside for a bit and enjoy the nice weather!
